The writing was only a little less consistent than the first, I enjoyed the adventure, and the conclusion. Only 150 men crossed the low wall and they fell to Union guns and capture. I didn’t know anything about Hole or Pat before I read this. Wickersham has written a lovely book reflecting human complexity. The depicted strategies, tactics, and reactions etch a realistic portrait of these elite warriors and the planet on which the operation takes place.
