I liked the historical footnotes at the end and the 1st chapter of the next book in the series. And I'm not crazy for thinking that way. Captures well the confusion pace of what must have been a focusing period of time. There's more philosophical discussion between Brunetti and his wife Paola here than in previous books in the series, which makes this novel somewhat slow-moving and tempers the suspense. I've read Waiting for the Paraclete three times and it's my number one gift to friends and family.
